Course objectives:
The seminars focus on the Czech and world´s books for children and youth, on children´s literature, mainly in contemporary view. There will be presented interesting authors and works of Czech culture, extraordinary world authors and works in the comparison of book´s form or theme. The seminars concentrate on the art for children and youth in its suggestion to be interesting for all ages. The students will be led to their own reading, to present their own opinion, and to compare with their experience (of children´s or even adult´s reader). There will be created an area for discovering new artists, analytic discussion on the basis of literary illustrations and excerpts.
Requirements on student:
- reading of at least 5 titles and preparation for a final reading debate (max. 50 points)
- presentation of the selected book („my childhood´s important book“: presentation of the author, genre, age category of the readers, theme of the book, favorite part of the book, and a commentary about it, meaning in children´s reading) (max. 50 points)
- active participation in discussion on book´s illustrations and excerpts
Students must obtain min. 50 points.
In total, the student is evaluated:
- 100-91 points excellent (A)
- 90-81 points very good plus (B)
- 80-71 points very good (C)
- 70-61 points good plus (D)
- 60-51 points good (E)
- 50-0 points failed (F)

Learning outcomes:

- be well informed about interesting contemporary Czech and world´s authors and works for children and youth
- discuss and share their opinion about contemporary children´s books with their colleagues
