AnotationIn the context of the advancing climate changes that are occurring on Earth, it is desirable that we prepare the coming generations, who will be the agents of change for environmental protection, for a variety of situations. Contemporary literature for children and young people offers us a suitable tool for this. Children's fiction deals with numerous environmental topics ranging from the pollution of the seas and oceans, the loss of biodiversity and the melting of glaciers to topics closely linked to our region, such as the consequences of long-term industrial production, air pollution and the impact of these phenomena on the quality of life of the inhabitants of specific localities. The creation of the electronic version of the reader, hereafter referred to as the e-reader, is motivated by the fact that the analyses of the currently used reading books for the first and second grades of primary schools contain texts from an almost unchanging canon of literature, and contemporary works with well-developed environmental issues are absent. In the framework of the project we want to focus on grouping these texts to which we would create questions and tasks for work in the classroom. In addition to examples suitable for teaching, the reader would also include an annotated list of other titles of the above-mentioned focus for students' extracurricular reading needs. We are convinced that this publication could be helpful in the implementation of lessons in literary education and other subjects and cross-cutting environmental topics, and could help teachers in both primary and secondary schools to introduce and explain environmental issues to pupils in a playful way with examples.
