AnotationSuccess in modern day society is highly dependent on the ability to maintain interpersonal relationships through expressive and receptive language use; however, cognitive-communication difficulties affect everyday activities such as employment, education, and social interactions. Communication disorders can also cause mild cognitive deficits that arise from various causes. In the long-term view, sleep disturbance, anxiety or depression may appear. Communication disorder most often result from difficulties at the level of attention, working memory, executive functions, and information processing speed. Mild cognitive-communication deficits can negatively affect academic performance, social interaction, and future professional employment, for example in the ability to keep a job. They reduce the optimal involvement in the conversation or the ability to participate in the conversation within various communication roles (parent, sibling, friend, neighbour, colleague, classmate, customer, etc.). They also negatively affect the individual's independent functioning and, in general, the possibility of adequate interaction, including the establishment and maintenance of social relationships. Although individuals with mild cognitive and communication deficits may not have difficulties in basic communication skills, most of them fail in solving problems or in thinking at a higher level or multitasking, which affects success in education. The aim of the project is to find out which cognitive-communication difficulties are most often present among OSU students and selected groups of OSU students and to propose possible measures to improve the quality of life, including academic results.
