Annotation:

The course provides an exploration of the sociological, political and cultural underpinnings of sport and sports provision and development. The course considers the nature and role of sports development work in the context of  state intervention in leisure and recreation and equips students with the necessary theoretical background for the  critical analysis of sports development work required in later courses.
