Summary:
The goal of this course is to introduce students to the field of digital photography, photographic equipment and other technical devices which are used when creating photos. Students will learn how exposure works – the combination of shutter speed, aperture and ISO, and they will be able to set the correct exposure on any digital camera which offers manual exposure settings. They will also learn how depth of field and perspective can drastically change the mood of a picture. An external flash will be used as a fill light and also as a main (key) light. All pictures will then be edited in Adobe Photoshop. Students will learn how to perform global adjustments (white balance, exposure, saturation, removing chromatic aberration) very easily in Adobe Camera RAW. In portrait retouching students will learn how to use retouching tools, layers, masks and filters to make their pictures better than snapshots from a compact camera or mobile device.
