AnotationChildhood cancer is an under-researched topic in education due to its high sensitivity and relatively low prevalence , and compared to interventions for other groups of children and students with special educational needs, little adequate information and data is known about what specific barriers and factors facilitate learning during and after cancer treatment. Given the wide variability in the trajectory of the disease, the specificities of the treatment regimen and the impact of treatment (e.g. permanent sensory and neurocognitive deficits), these children and pupils in compulsory schooling are a high-risk group in terms of access to education, school failure and, more broadly, are also at risk of social exclusion. The need to address this topic is evidenced by the international scientific interest that has been sought through systematic reviews (e.g. Bryan et al. Systematic Reviews; Cancer Medicine; European Journal of Cancer Care, etc.). - See Appendix) published in multidisciplinary scientific journals to map the topic comprehensively in different countries. Another argument for a closer treatment of the selected topic is the fact that in an international comparison of the incidence of cancer in children aged 0-14 years, the Czech Republic ranks 7th in Europe.
