AnotationProposed project examines development of cognitive functioning of an individual in the context of primary education, especially as regards pupils with different living conditions and pupils from culturally different environment. In contemporary educational practice and research, quality of cognitive functioning is presented mainly in connection with preparedness and school success rate (Kovalčíková a Martinková 2020, s. 71?72; Ahmed et al. 2021; Benzing et al. 2019). This area is closely related to mastering of trivia and meeting requirements, which the system of primary education expects pupils to have. By applying intended tools and methods, this area can be expanded and modified directly as part of teaching in order to enable an individual to adapt not only for school conditions. One of the tools of cognitive education mostly used within primary education in the Czech Republic is the Instrumental Enrichment programme developed by Reuven Feuerstein (FIE). This project implements the tool within tuition of first grade primary school students. Its effectiveness is to be measured in several fields. This project also aims to apply the concept of cognitive functioning modification in the context of pre-gradual training of teachers. In order for an educator to be ready to expand pupils? cognitive functioning, they need knowledge in this particular area, namely self-knowledge and meta-cognitive skills, to be included in their pre-gradual training. Another option is implementation of FIE into students? tuition and turning it into a separate optional course at PdF OU.
