Synopsis / description / annotation:

The aim of the course is to define the rules on the form of documents including the mathematical definitions of terms, mathematical laws or problems. Students will be first acquainted with the creating the materials for their practical educational training in office programs (MS Office, LibreOffice, Google Docs/Sheets). The presented software options will be used in connection with rules of the citation standard including the creating the titles of equations/tables/diagrams and their contents in favour of the writing the final theses. The equation editors will be appropriately set to reflect the typesetting of symbols according to the conventions in mathematical literature. Following content of the course will be based on aspects of creating mathematical texts using TeX rules.

Content:

  1. Creating the suitable document structure for purposes of presentation of mathematical information (materials for practical training, theses)
  2. Citation standard in connection with the creating the mathematical texts, typesetting of mathematical symbols
  3. Captioning the equations/tables/schemes and generating indices/subtitle lists
  4. Introduction of software for purposes of the mathematical writing
  5. Equation editors (setting the editor according to the usual rules of typesetting the mathematical symbols in the literature; functions of the equation editor)
  6. Creating the documents based on TeX rules, LaTeX options with description of installation and settings procedure, explanation of basic work with LaTeX
  7. Practical explanation of some additional aspects such as use of TeX in other software, in Internet presentations, possibilities of MathML language and its connection with MS Office
