Aims and objectives:

Based on an introductory diagnostic assessment of the enrolled students' skill level, a specific programme is designed for the semester. The course for beginners aims to develop skills in basic badminton shots and their use in game situations. For more advanced players the course aims to improve shot technique and develop players' speed of motion.

Topics of lectures:

  1. Introduction to the course, diagnostic session to determine students' skill level
  2. Holding the racket, player positioning and movement on the court
  3. Clear shot technique
  4. Short-distance play and movement to the net, net play
  5. Attacking shots and defence. Attacking tactics
  6. Serving and receiving serves – technique, tactics
  7. Shot combinations, spatial orientation and player movement
  8. Practice drills for badminton
  9. Singles - tactics
  10. Doubles - tactics
  11. Singles tournament (organized by students)
  12. Doubles tournament (organized by students)
  13. Final diagnostic session

Requirements for students:

  • 80% participation in practice sessions - 20 points
  • Passing a test of basic individual skills (basic shots, serving, attack, defence) - 30 points
  • Fulfilment of requirements in 1 semester – 50 points.
