AnotationDietary approaches based on restricting the daily amount of carbohydrates can generally be divided into these types. The first type is a low carbohydrate high fat (LCHF) diet characterised by a daily carbohydrate intake of <130 g / d or <26% of energy intake. Others are the very low-carbohydrate high-fat diet (VLCHF) and the ?keto? diet, in which we limit our daily carbohydrate intake to 20?50 g / d or <10% kcal / d, several of these reduced calories are replaced with fat intake and the amount of protein remains similar at low or medium levels (Feinman et al., 2015). The main characteristic of the keto versus VLCHF diet is the presence of nutritional ketosis, which means that you take and maintain blood ketone levels between 0.5 - 3 mmol / l (9 - 54 mg / dl) (Taboulet et al., 2007). These types of diets have been shown to have a positive effect on the treatment of chronic metabolic and cardiovascular diseases (Miller et al., 2020; McKenzie et al., 2017) and weight reduction (Paoli et al., 2015), but also have a positive effect on aerobic performance in athletes (Volek et al., 2015; Zajac et al., 2014; Paoli et al., 2015). Physiological studies in the field of dietary approaches based on restricting the amount of carbohydrates, have been a popular topic in recent years. Nevertheless, the impact of these diets on the psychosocial sphere of people is area which needs more researches.
